University Summer Residential Weight Loss Camp
EXERCISE - This involves the camper participating in fun, non-competitive sporting activities. While each University will offer different venues, there are also plenty of activities to choose from. These include swimming, tennis, basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, volleyball, rope courses, and hiking. These are just a few of the activities that are on campus or near campus grounds. Again, this is a non-competitive environment so if your child decides to take a break from sports activities they can go to the University's fabulous libraries or computer labs that are on campus. Traditional camp activities such as arts and crafts are also available. EDUCATION - Three days a week for one hour a day your child will be taught by a registered dietitian on what types of foods to eat as well as the proper portions that they should consume at each meal. This is the foundation of our program and is consistently reinforced all summer long. We want your child to understand the basics of nutrition and the importance of practicing a healthy lifestyle after the program ends. Education is the best way to accomplish these goals. We have also set aside one hour a week on campus to teach parents about proper nutrition. We strongly recommend the parents attend these meetings to support their family and make changes to their home environment. If for any reason the parents cannot attend the on campus classes, we offer a live feed webinar, so they can view the lesson in real time, via the internet. NUTRITION - Our registered dietitians will prepare menu’s for the campers that will have wholesome nutritional value as well as great tasting meals. Throughout their three meals a day, the campers will learn to eat proper sized portions and be satisfied at the same time. Snacks are also provided throughout the day. Each camper is assessed by our dietitian based on the online nutritional assessment and medical forms to determine the proper caloric intake and portions based on age, gender and weight.
